EMMA's communication parameters allow you to create the parameters you need to later link them to both In-App and Out-App communications. This enables you to use this information for grouping and filtering in EMMA's performance report.
¶ Create communication parameters
Creating communication parameters is very simple; you just need to follow the steps listed below:

Log in to your EMMA account.
Go to the Management > Communication Parameters section.

Click on the + New Parameter button.

Fill out the parameter creation form.

Name: Set an identifying name for your parameter. This name will appear in the selector when creating a new communication.

Description: Optionally, you can add a description for your parameter. This description will appear in the parameter summary table and help you understand its purpose.
Mandatory in communication: Define whether the parameter will be mandatory or optional in communications. If marked as mandatory, it must be filled in every time a new communication is created. -
Type: Define the type of parameter. The available types are:
- Open field: When selecting the parameter while creating a communication, the user can set any desired value.
- Value selection: When creating the parameter, predefined values must be set. When selecting the parameter in a communication, the user can only choose from the predefined values.

+ Add value: Add the available values for the parameter.

Usable for histograms: Enabling this option allows the parameter to be used as a filter in histograms. This option is only available for mandatory selection-type parameters, with a maximum of three parameters allowed for histograms.
Once a parameter is enabled for use in the histogram, it will start displaying data from that moment onward—it is not retroactive.
If a parameter is disabled for histogram use and later re-enabled, the historical data will not be lost. However, no information will be recorded for the period it was "paused."
In the parameter summary table, the following information is displayed:
| Description | Description of the parameter set at the time of its creation. This is an optional field; if not filled in, nothing will be displayed. |
| Type | The type assigned to the parameter. It can be "Value Selection" or "Open Field." |
| Mandatory | Indicates whether the parameter has been marked as mandatory or not. If mandatory, a checkmark will be displayed; if not, nothing will be shown. |
| For histograms | Indicates whether the parameter has been marked for use in histograms. If enabled, a checkmark will be displayed; otherwise, nothing will be shown. |
| Possible values | In the case of "Value Selection" type parameters, the configured values will be displayed. |
¶ Edit parameters
If you need to modify one or more parameters, simply follow these steps to proceed with the edit:

Log in to EMMA.

Go to the Management > Communication Parameters section.

Hover over the contextual menu and select the Edit option.

From the parameter editing screen, make the necessary modifications.

Click Save Parameter.
¶ Delete parameters
If you need to delete one or more parameters, follow these steps:
- Log in to EMMA.
- Go to the Management > Communication Parameters section.
- Hover over the contextual menu and select the Delete option. Keep in mind that once you click this button, the parameter will be deleted immediately.
